Rishi Kapoor passes away: Revisiting his most successful pairings, from Neetu Singh, Sridevi to Juhi Chawla

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away at 67 after a two-year long battle with leukaemia. He was admitted to Mumbai's HN Reliance Hospital on Wednesday after he complained of breathing issues. Rishi, who ventured into films as a child actor in father Raj Kapoor's Mera Naam Joker , eventually solidified his reputation in Bollywood as a romantic hero. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor's untimely demise on Thursday brought in a barrage of reactions on social media. The actor was taken to HN Reliance hospital by his family on Wednesday morning after he complained of breathing issues. From actors to politicians, eminent personalities, including the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, Congress Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mourned the loss of the stalwart. While Amitabh Bachchan wrote that this information "destroyed" him, Akshay Kumar termed the news "heartbreaking." Rajinikanth prayed for his "dearest friend" to rest in peace. In a pinstriped suit, rose-tinted gold-rimmed sunglasses and a walrus moustache, Rishi Kapoor filled the frame as the gangster Iqbal in Nikkhil Advani’s action drama D-Day . It was the second time the actor and director were collaborating, having previously worked together on the 2011 sports drama Patiala House, in which he played Akshay Kumar’s father.
