Filmmaker Raj Kaushal, Mandira Bedi's husband, passes away after cardiac arrest

Filmmaker Raj Kaushal, who directed movies like Shaadi Ka Laddoo and Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, passed away early Wednesday morning following a heart attack, family friend and actor Rohit Roy said. He was in his 50s.

Kaushal was married to actor-TV presenter Mandira Bedi. The couple has two children, son Vir and daughter Tara.

"He passed away today morning, at around 4.30 am at his home. He had a heart attack," Roy told PTI.

Apart from direction, Kaushal had also produced filmmaker Onir's 2005 acclaimed drama My Brother… Nikhil, starring Sanjay Suri and Juhi Chawla.

Onir paid tributes to Kaushal on Twitter.

"Gone too soon. We lost filmmaker and producer @rajkaushal1 this morning. Very Sad. He was one of the producers of my first film #MyBrotherNikhil.

"One of those few who believed in our vision and supported us. Prayers for his soul," Onir wrote.

Kaushal's last directorial was the 2006 thriller, Anthony Kaun Hai?, starring Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt.

Oscars 2021 adds in-person UK hub for international nominees amid travel concerns during pandemic

With less than a month until showtime, the 93rd Oscars are taking another pass at the script. Show producers Steven Soderbergh, Jesse Collins and Stacey Sher remain determined to have an i n-person ceremony on 25 April in Los Angeles but told nominees on Tuesday in a virtual meeting that they’ve added a British hub after some backlash from nominees about international travel restrictions. The main event will still take place at Los Angeles’ Union station which will include a red carpet component but they are planning something special for the UK location. The show is also working with local broadcast affiliates around the world to provide satellite links for other international nominees. They said they are not totally ruling out Zoom but are hoping it doesn’t come to that. Although plans and requirements remain fluid, attendees have been told they’re expected to quarantine for 10 days prior to the show.
